I didn't initially plan for a career as an Executive Assistant, but life has a way of pointing us in directions we never imagined. After the birth of my daughter, I was looking for a role that would allow me to utilize my diverse skill set—ranging from training to business operations to management in a flexible and remote environment. That’s when I joined Belay, a company that connects virtual assistants with CEOs and executives.

Client Experiences That Shaped Me

My first client at Belay was an executive specializing in corporate training, and the experience was enlightening. But it was my second client, an executive at a multi-billion dollar telecom company, who truly revolutionized my career. She was a powerhouse—a rockstar who taught me what it means to balance authority with empathy in the workplace. From booking private jets to organizing million-dollar conferences in Barcelona, I broadened my expertise in international travel, business operations, and contract management.

The Transition to Operations and Beyond

My time at Belay was rewarding, but I was hungry for more. I transitioned to an organization called Storied (working with Silicon Valley & Tech Start-ups with their organizational narratives), where I began as an Executive Assistant but soon found myself diving into various aspects of business operations. As the company evolved, so did my roles—from Director of Business Operations to Vice President of Business Operations. However, the skills I gained as an EA never lost their relevance. They were instrumental in navigating tasks ranging from HR to finance to strategic decision-making.

Years of running operations, managing teams, and supporting C-suite executives have taught me something crucial: There's a gap in resources specifically aimed at Executive Assistants.
